What Other People are Saying

I'm one of those people who own a bible but only have read bits and pieces. I have read 10 chapters so far. It is easy to read, understand, and relate. The author includes bits and pieces of his life and military career to set the stage in this book. I am glad I got the book and as I read, things make so much more sense on the history of the bible, lessons from God, and Jesus' teachings. The book is also set up with questions for each chapter which can be used in a bible study class!

This book does an excellent job of illustrating God’s plan of salvation layered throughout the pages of the Bible. The author extracts out key scripture to tie together the biblical narrative from Genesis to Revelations. Starting from Genesis, he builds scripture on scripture to reinforce the Bible's central theme – Jesus. All the way thru to Revelations, touching on key truths and reinforcing scripture that announce God’s plan for mankind.

Ren's background as a military chaplain is a great viewpoint for analyzing the battle between God (good) and evil. He uses words judiciously, has scriptural references, provides context and shows Jesus as the main character in the Bible's message of salvation and freedom. I loved the Christmas poem in chapter 11 and the context of Jesus' boldness in establishing His church via Peter near the Gates of Hell in Caesarea Philippi, a center of pagan worship.

This author has a style of writing that takes complex events covering thousands of years and distilling them into a few comprehensible points on a few pages. One example; Chapter 7 Most Favored Nation Status; in seven bullet points, the timeline of "approximately two thousand years" are Genesis to Mathew which is covered in a page. Bud a bing, bud a boom there it is. The author could have put in five pages per point, however, he consistently demonstrates, The Bible is Easier to Understand than You May Think. This book is a keeper.

Excellent read ( I read it in one sitting) summarizing the Bible’s redemptive message in a concise, organized manner that was easy to understand. I related to many of the examples the author used to convey the Bible’s story. His life experience in the armed services and his calling as a chaplain and teacher gave the book depth and validity As a Christian this book will be useful for evangelism purposes. I came away enriched with a new method for studying the scriptures.

Cheryl Cisler

The author presents a logical and cohesive view of scripture from Genesis to Revelation. The book lends itself well to both individual and group study with questions to stimulate application and understanding. Military experiences and terms add interest to the content. I particularly like the author’s style. It’s almost like having an important conversation with him. Jerry L.Terrill PhD

Great book to help a person to begin to understand the Bible. I enjoyed the stories and questions to contemplate and discuss. It was thought provoking for me to examine and challenge my own faith to take more action.
