Welcome to Making the Bible Simple!

“Ren, I don’t understand the Bible. I read it. I try to make sense of what I read but I can’t put it all together.” Earl’s problem is common to all of us.
I wrote: The Bible Is Easier to Understand Than You May Think to enable people to understand the Bible better so they can know God. On this website, l try to make the Bible simple so when we understand it and do what it teaches, we will know God. Then we will have a joy and peace in our lives because we know our eternity is with God. It’s that simple. Ready? Let’s get to it.
The Bible has three sections: Creation, Fall, Redemption.
Creation – Genesis, chapters 1, 2.
God created everything perfectly. But there’s one more thing. In Genesis 2:17 God gave the command to Adam not to eat fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. God warned Adam that if he did eat the fruit he would die. The consequence of disobedience would be immediate spiritual death. That meant a broken relationship with God and eventual physical death.
Fall – Genesis 3:1-14.
The “fall” occurred in the Garden of Eden, when the first two created humans, (Adam and Eve) listened to the devil who prompted them to disobey God. They ate fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil after God told them not to. That disobedience was their “fall” into sin. By this act they broke their perfect relationship with God. This caused their perfect created nature to become a sinful nature. Then Adam and Eve passed their sinful nature and broken relationship with God on to all human beings.
Redemption – Genesis 3:15 – Revelation 22:21.
God made a plan to redeem us from our broken relationship with Him. That plan is called redemption. Redemption is Jesus coming to this world to pay for our sins. We must repent and believe in Jesus to be redeemed. God started that redemptive plan in the Garden of Eden when He spoke to the devil in Genesis 3:15 and said, “He will crush your head.” Jesus is the “He” in that quote. Starting in Genesis 3:15 the rest of the Bible is redemption.
It is one main story about one main character – Jesus.
